Privacy Policy

1. What is public

Your approved profile: name, headline, bio, trade, the city where you work, the areas you serve, languages, photo, cover image and the public links you add (website, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Google Business Profile, TikTok, YouTube). Also your approved articles, business pages, published comments, accepted recommendations and the referral partners you pin.

Nothing is public until it has been reviewed and approved, and you can hide your profile at any time from your account, with immediate effect.

2. What is private

• Your sign-in email address.
• Your phone and WhatsApp numbers, and the city where you live.
• Your answers about your best customers and what you need most.
• Who you follow, your connections and requests, and your Helpful marks.

Private fields are kept in a separate table and never appear on public pages, in structured data or in sitemaps. Your phone, WhatsApp or email are shown only to members you have connected with, and only the ones you switch on in your profile. Removing a connection or switching sharing off hides them immediately.

3. Signing in

If you sign in with an email link, we store your email address. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us; we use them only to create and identify your account.

We use cookies to keep you signed in, and Google Analytics cookies to understand how the site is used (for example, which pages are visited and where visitors come from). Analytics is shared with metagraphicunlimited.com so we can see when someone moves between the two sites. We do not send your name, email or other account details to Google Analytics, and SFN does not use advertising cookies. You can block analytics cookies in your browser, or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

4. Photos

Photos you upload are re-encoded and their hidden metadata, including location (GPS), is removed before they are stored.

5. How we use information

• To run SFN: show your public profile and content, review submissions, and let members connect.
• To keep SFN safe: review reports, prevent spam and enforce our rules.
• To contact you about your account: sign-in links, and notifications such as review results or connection requests (you choose which, in your account).
• To welcome you, and to send occasional emails to members: news about SFN and, from time to time, news and offers from Metagraphic Unlimited, the company that runs SFN. Every one of these emails has an unsubscribe link.
• To send the South Florida Business Exchange newsletter, only if you subscribe in your account. You can unsubscribe at any time.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising.

6. Service providers

We use providers to run SFN, and they process data on our behalf: Supabase (database and sign-in), Cloudflare (hosting, image processing and photo storage), Google (Google sign-in, only if you choose it, and Google Analytics), Mailgun (sign-in links and notification emails) and Brevo (member emails, and the newsletter if you subscribe). We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety of our members and the public.

7. Download your data

From your account page you can download one file with your profile, private fields, business pages and affiliations, articles, comments, connections, follows and recommendations.

8. Deleting your account

• Your profile is removed from the site immediately and deleted from our active systems, together with your private fields, articles, connections, follows, recommendations (written and received) and the photos you uploaded.
• The text of your comments is deleted; the thread shows "comment removed" so replies still make sense.
• Your business affiliations are removed. Business pages you own can be transferred to another member first; otherwise they are unpublished and kept unclaimed, managed by us.
• Reports you sent are kept without your name, as moderation records.
• Copies in backups expire on their normal backup schedule.

9. Security

Access to data is controlled in the database itself, so each member can only read and change what belongs to them. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your rights

You can see, correct, download or delete your information from your account at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights; contact us to use them.

11. Children

SFN is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

12. Changes

We will update this policy when SFN changes how it handles information; the date at the top shows the latest version.
